Wards Corner Workshops

The Wards Corner Community Benefit Society held a packed-out, open  participatory meeting last night titled, Taking Back Tottenham! What is community ownership, why do communities plan, and what could this mean for our neighbourhood? The meeting was addressed by guest speakers Yvonne Field from the Ubele Initiative and Dave Morris from Our Tottenham Network - with insights on Tottenham's proud and tenacious history of community planning The meeting also heard from Latin Village trader Nicholas and learnt more about the about the Wards Corner Community Plan. The talks were followed by a visioning workshop on the Wards Corner Community Plan. The plan includes a proportion of the surplus produced by the community development given over to democratic deliberation on its expenditure. Participants in the workshop engaged in a participatory planning process for how they might invest £1 million of that surplus in the local area.
