Abundance member Keir Milburn opened Stir to Action's Playground for a New Economy festival in Manchester speaking on a panel titled The Ownership Gap: Why it’s at the root of inequality. Keir discussed the political, economic, and ecological impasse the current structure of asset ownership places us in while explaining how Public-Private Partnerships are massively increasing the centralisation of asset ownership and the huge inequalities this produces. Instead of Public-Private Partnerships, in which the public derisks private asset ownership for rent extraction, he argued for Public-Common Partnerships, in which the public underwrites and derisks projects for the common ownership and governance of assets.
